Carnival of the Capitalists

October 31, 2007

This week’s edition of the Carnival of the Capitalists is hosted at PartnerUp. Some articles to note:

  • Blogs are not Forums
I would say that in a well-managed online community, you could come pretty close to a blog with a forum. Most importantly, the baby pictures on this page are priceless.
  • Are you giving your marketing tactics enough time?
The author reminds us to give marketing campaigns the time they need to blossom instead of going into a panic at the last minute. Drew - so true! Patience is hard work!!
  • How to Motivate Employees
I like that he uses an image of a dangling carrot. If it were me, it would have been a giant whip … or so I’ve been told.
  • The Secret to Getting Motivated
Feeling lazy? Use these tips to jumpstart your work. A lull that goes on too long is the death of many homepreneurs. A formerly self-employed friend of mine (hi Justin) just got a job (congrats!) because he needed someone else to kick him in the pants to get going (ouch).
  • Reality vs. theory in a high-growth, bootstrapping business
What I love about Pam is that she truly "gets it"—that true growth comes not from knowing it all, but from knowing you could have your ass handed to you at any moment in the life of your business.
