I’ve found another great idea sketching idea that expands upon this technique: The Concept Map.

I came across this beautiful concept map by Anthony Weeks while reading the post Cognitive Fitness, The Future of Work, and Concept Maps over at SharpBrains. I think the ability to do this kind of work is an art form, really, and I totally agree with SharpBrains that "Concept Maps can be [useful] to quickly visualize the key ideas in a field, and their relationships." I’d love to see this kind of grouping technique, displaying items on the map by common ideas and not linear timeline during a lecture, be used with technologies such as sketchcasting to get across complex topics in a short amount of time. It makes me wish I had any ability to draw!
