Am I off your mailing list?
October 25, 2007
I felt a little bad when someone asked that. No, you’re all not off my mailing list! I was just taking some time to get work done and refocus this blog a bit. Now that it’s been completely redeveloped (and moved from TypePad to a self-hosted new version of WordPress), I am ready to launch!
PLEASE NOTE: This site now has a new URL. That URL is www.smallbusinessessentials.info. Please update your bookmarks accordingly. If you have already signed up to receive feed updates, those will continue as before without any modifications.
In short, you’ll be hearing a lot more from me now.

Sorry for the technical problems …
July 25, 2007
Apparently PG&E was having some power issues in SF, knocking out some pretty big players like Craigslist, Technorati, and Six Apart—who is the parent company of TypePad, the host of this site. They seem to have it under control now. Thanks for your patience!
Carnival of the Capitalists
July 23, 2007
Hello, and welcome to the Carnival of the Capitalists for Monday, July 23rd, 2007. I, Nikole Gipps, am your host for today. I maintain 2 blogs: the one you are reading this on, Small Business Essentials, and another one, Web Technology for Entrepreneurs, which is hosted at StartupNation. I also run a web design and marketing firm, NHG Consulting, which mainly works with small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Two notes before I get started:
There I am, on Google News.
July 17, 2007
This isn’t about tooting my own horn … it’s just about that sense of, well, something that you get when you see yourself in a national press release for the first time. It’s pride in your work. It’s a renewing of the faith that keeps a startup going through those tough early days. It’s that boost of traffic that tells other people that you are here to stay. It’s funny because I have written plenty of them for other people, but I have never been the "star" of one myself. It almost makes all these long hours worth working!
